Relying on pinpoint control and a good array of pitches, Noel Miskell of the Newark Gunners held the Brooklyn Bums scoreless today. He scattered 1 hit over 9 innings and fanned 11 on his way to the 7-0 victory.
This year Miskell has posted a 12-0 mark in 13 starts and has a 2.56 ERA.

 | Friday, June 6th, 1958: Star 1B Signs Pact with Bums
The Brooklyn Bums have finalized a deal with All Star-caliber first baseman Fabio Segona that will extend his stay in Brooklyn at least 4 years and will pay out $26,840,000.
For the season, Segona is hitting at a .276 clip with 6 home runs, 25 RBIs and has scored 30 runs. He has 60 hits, 18 walks and a .335 on-base percentage.

 | Sunday, June 1st, 1958: Deal: Carlile for Forchion
Several Patriots and Bums players soon will have to start shopping for a new home. It was announced today that the two teams came to agreement on a trade. Boston will get 31-year old shortstop Dante Forchion and 36-year old starting pitcher Denny Proffitt and Brooklyn will pick up 23-year old minor league left fielder David Carlile, a 5th round draft pick and a 6th round draft pick in return. "I'm not surprised by the news," one of the players told reporters, "It's part of the business and I understand that. I am looking forward to playing for the Patriots."
In the 1958 season Forchion is batting .263 with 47 hits and 14 home runs. He has scored 33 times and batted in 36.
