When the call went out to the Syracuse bullpen in 1958, Jesús Serabia proved equal to the task. Whether he was brought in to squelch a rally or just finish the game, Serabia gave his best at each opportunity. As a result, today the Spiders reliever was named the latest West Empire State Pitcher of the Year winner.
He made no relief appearances, logging 137 innings and no saves this season. He racked up 119 strikeouts, a 13-5 record and an ERA of 4.86.

 | Monday, June 30th, 1958: 20-Game Hitting Streak for Feliberty
Pacífico Feliberty collected 3 hits in today's game and extended his hitting streak to 20 games. His club, the Syracuse Spiders, beat Buffalo 9-3.
After the ballgame, Feliberty quipped to a BNN reporter, "Right now, when they throw me the ball, it looks the size of a softball. I'm pretty excited how things are clicking."
P. Feliberty hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, walked in the 6th and flied out in the 7th.
Feliberty is currently hitting at a .496 pace with no home runs, 19 RBIs and has scored 18 times.

 | Wednesday, June 25th, 1958: Hits Galore: Espinosa Drills 5 Hits
It was a good day all around. Syracuse whipped Ithaca 11-8 and Audy Espinosa displayed a hot bat, enjoying an outstanding 5-hit day at Spiders Ballpark.
"Some days, lady luck is on your side," he modestly told BNN reporters after the game. His manager told the beat writers otherwise, "His hitting wasn't luck today. It's his solid approach to hitting. Audy is focused, patient and he hits to all fields. The more solid at-bats you put together, the more success you're going to have."
The 21-year-old second baseman for the Spiders collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats to get his name in the record book.
A. Espinosa struck out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This season Espinosa is hitting .412 with 35 hits, 1 home run, 14 RBIs, scored 13 runs and played in 23 games.
