| Breaking News | | Tuesday, June 17th, 1958: 5-Hit Blitz by Urdanivia Pedro Urdanivia really did a number on the Scholars -- but Ithaca retaliated and did a number on the Whiskey -- they beat them 15-14.
Not just anyone can get 5 hits in 5 at-bats. But Urdanivia did just that today for Watertown and gave his batting average a healthy boost, but did not deliver the victory.
"I felt real good in the batter's box today. I had confidence in my swing and knew that it was there and that I could get the job done," the 26-year-old catcher said after his record-setting performance. "I just wish we had won the game, too."
P. Urdanivia singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, singled in the 6th, walked in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off J. Akehurst in the 9th.

The Syracuse left fielder went 5 for 5 in the game to put his name in the record book.
Summing up his batting philosophy to BNN writers after the game, Carey said, "I just see the ball and I hit it."
