Chalk up another one for New London left fielder David Carlile. He now has hit in 40 straight games. Carlile went 1-for-5 today's game at Field of the Widowmakers. However, his club was defeated 10-4 by Newport.
D. Carlile flied out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, struck out in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th.
Carlile is currently hitting at a .435 pace with 6 home runs and 67 RBIs.

| Tuesday, September 23rd, 1958: Carlile Has 39-Game Hitting Streak
Just like "Old Man River" David Carlile just keeps on rolling along. The New London left fielder stretched his hitting streak to 39 games today at Field of the Widowmakers. He was 1-for-4 in the Widowmakers 7-6 win over the Newport Storm.
D. Carlile struck out in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, walked in the 7th and hit a two-run double in the 8th.
Currently Carlile has 6 home runs and a .440 batting average.

 | Friday, September 19th, 1958: Webber Hits for the Cycle
Newport's Arthur Webber had a great game in the 10-9 loss to the Hampton Beach Hurricanes. The Storm left fielder went 4-for-5, including hitting for the cycle, but his club went down to defeat anyway.
"Everything they threw him, he was swatting around the field," said the Newport skipper. "It really was a spectacular performance for Arthur. It's a shame we couldn't win the game, too."
A. Webber doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI triple in the 5th, flied out in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off A. Orasio in the 8th.
Thus far in 1958 Webber is batting .392 with 8 home runs, 93 RBIs and 98 runs scored.
