Saturday, September 20th, 1958: McKerchar Strokes 5 Hits
It seemed that Manchester first baseman Christian McKerchar could do no wrong as the Wolves kayoed the Widowmakers 15-4 today as he rapped out 5 hits in 5 at-bats. New London pitchers couldn't get him out as McKerchar seemed to know which pitches they were throwing.

"I think the Wolves were stealing signs," growled one unhappy New London fan.

"I just felt good today. I saw the ball well and just wanted to make good contact and put the ball in play," exclaimed the jubilant McKerchar in the postgame press interview.

C. McKerchar singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, doubled in the 6th and hit an RBI double in the 8th.

McKerchar currently has a .290 batting average with 92 hits, 6 homers, 69 RBIs, 69 runs scored and a .386 OBP.
Saturday, September 20th, 1958: Carlile Hits in 37 Consecutive Games
"Things went well for me today. I got 2 hits and the streak is up to 37 games. But we didn't win the game. As you all know, baseball is not about personal accomplishments, its about winning." Those words were spoken by David Carlile of the New London Widowmakers to BNN after his club dropped a 15-4 decision to Manchester.
D. Carlile struck out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd and hit a two-run double in the 5th.

Carlile has collected 106 hits for the Widowmakers this year, 6 of them home runs. He has also netted 65 RBIs and scored 65 runs while batting .442.
