Sunday, September 28th, 1958: Chilton Has 20-Game Hitting Streak
Winthrop Chilton has been ripping hits every day for quite some time and no team seems to be able to stop him. The Hampton Beach catcher got 3 hits today against the New London Widowmakers and now has a 20-game hitting streak. The Hurricanes won the game 9-7.
W. Chilton hit an RBI double in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off J. Prieto in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th.

Saturday, September 27th, 1958: Carlile Hits in 41 Consecutive Games
And the hits just keep on coming -- especially off the red-hot bat of David Carlile. The Widowmakers left fielder got 2 hits in 4 at-bats in today's 10-2 triumph over the Hampton Beach Hurricanes at Field of the Widowmakers. Carlile has now hit safely in his last 41 games.

Asked by the press, how it feels to go through something like this, he replied, "the longer it goes on, the more the pressure intensifies. The press coverage can get relentless at times. I wish I could just go out and play the game without all this distraction, but I know that's not going to happen. I know I will just have to grin and bear it."
D. Carlile struck out in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th and singled in the 7th.

Thus far in 1958 Carlile is batting .436 with 6 home runs, 67 RBIs and 66 runs scored.
