"When he's seeing the ball well," his skipper told reporters, "he can probably stroke a base hit blindfolded."
This season Reyes is batting .390 with 5 home runs. Rick Parmenter of the Saratoga Springs Sunshine had one of those moments when he went 5 for 6 at the plate today in the 18-13 win over the Queens Kings at Saratoga Springs Fields.
The 20-year-old first baseman told reporters in the postgame interview, "This is a day I won't forget soon, but I'll settle to just get a hit or two every day... enough hits to hang around the league a little bit longer... like 10... 15 more years maybe."
R. Parmenter singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 8th and flied out in the 9th.
Parmenter is hitting .453 this year with 1 home run and 60 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .481, 25 walks and scored 65 times. |  | Friday, June 27th, 1958: Hitting Streak Still Alive for Middleton The Sunshine 21-year-old second baseman Dan Middleton has been on a tear for several weeks and his hitting streak is getting longer. The streak is now at 20 games after he went 3-5 as Saratoga Springs got the best of Queens 18-13 today at Saratoga Springs Fields. D. Middleton hit an RBI single in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, walked in the 5th, hit a three-run double in the 6th and struck out in the 8th.
During the current season Middleton is batting at a .386 clip with no home runs and 65 RBIs.
