Monday, June 30th, 1958: Super Week for Philadelphia's Valéncia!
This week's Player of the Week was Damario Valéncia of the Philadelphia Haymakers.

His big bat belted and blasted Miller pitching for 9 hits in 22 at-bats, 5 home runs and 6 RBIs while hitting .409 and scoring 5 runs.

So far this season Valéncia has hit .320 with 17 home runs, 37 RBIs and and scored 40 times.
Wednesday, June 25th, 1958: van Alstyne Puts Spell on Pittsburgh
Kurt van Alstyne of the Philadelphia Haymakers was one tough customer on the hill today. He blanked the Pittsburgh Keystones 5-0 on 3 hits, registering 10 strikeouts and 1 walk.

"When he's on, he's tough to hit," said the Pittsburgh manager after the game. "He's just a bulldog out there."

Thus far this season van Alstyne has posted a 2-3 record, started 10 games, struck out 54 batters in 63 innings and compiled a 4.57 ERA.
Tuesday, June 24th, 1958: Pittsburgh Whitewashes Philadelphia, Eck Jr. Winner
The Keystones whipped the Haymakers in a 3-0 whitewash today at J.P. Morgan Field. It was a masterful outing for Arnold C Eck Jr., who shut out Philadelphia on 2 hits.

So far this season Eck Jr. has a 7-5 record with a 2.97 ERA.
