| Breaking News |  | Wednesday, July 30th, 1958: Kunkel Toys with Hazelton Magic was in the air and on the mound at Ballpark of Scranton today as Bill Kunkel held Hazelton spellbound in his 2-0 shutout victory. The Scranton pitcher went the route, ran up 6 strikeouts, walked 3 and held the Mafioso to 4 hits to garner the win.
This year Kunkel has fanned 109 in 144.1 innings and collected a 13-3 record with a 3.68 ERA. |  | Tuesday, July 29th, 1958: Rodríguez Tosses Shutout Against Harrisburg Goose eggs were the order of the day for Harrisburg as Jesús Rodríguez shut out the Pirates 1-0 at Hazelton Fields. The Hazelton pitcher struck out 6 and walked 2 while allowing 4 hits.
In 25 starts this season Rodríguez has fashioned a 10-10 record and a 5.11 ERA. |  | Saturday, July 5th, 1958: Arrindel Strokes 6 Hits Pepé Arrindel exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Ringers Ballpark. The Allentown catcher had a field day in the 21-6 triumph over the Hazelton Mafioso, finishing with a 6-6 day and a spot in the league record book.
"My hitting philosophy is pretty simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch."
Well, Arrindel must have focused at least 6 times and apparently got some good pitches, too. It was one of his best days ever with the bat.
P. Arrindel singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off B. Borst in the 6th and hit a three-run home run off C. Carlisle in the 8th.
Arrindel is batting .281 this year with 7 home runs, 44 RBIs and 39 runs scored.
