Saturday, August 23rd, 1958: Viamonte Heads Best Batter List
It was a season to remember for Tejano Viamonte. He was one of the most dangerous men in the league when he had a bat in his hand, and the Virginia Baseball League announced today that he has won the Virginia's Best Hitter for 1958.

The Roanoke third baseman dominated opposing pitchers with a .310 batting average, 32 doubles, 4 triples, 13 home runs and 59 RBIs while compiling a .409 on-base percentage and scoring 69 runs.
Friday, August 1st, 1958: Viamonte Gets VBL Batter of the Month Trophy
Even though he is a newcomer to Virginia Baseball League, Tejano Viamonte put up some good numbers in July and brought home the VBL Batter of the Month trophy.

He was one of Roanoke's offensive leaders with a .396 average in 29 games. He also racked up 6 home runs, 14 RBIs and 23 runs scored.

This year Viamonte has batted at a .313 pace with 131 hits, 13 home runs, 59 RBIs and scored 69 times.
Monday, July 28th, 1958: Farrow: Big Hit in the Virginia Baseball League
There's nothing like being in the prime of your baseball career -- and playing like it. Just ask Merle Farrow, the Roanoke second baseman, who swung a sweet bat all week to not only aid his team, but also pick up the Virginia Baseball League Player of the Week honors.

Farrow piled up 14 hits in 23 at-bats, no home runs and 2 RBIs while hitting .609.

In 104 games Farrow is hitting .258 this season for the Highlanders with 97 hits, 12 home runs, 58 RBIs, 43 walks, .336 OBP and has scored 56 runs.
