Friday, August 29th, 1958: NL's #1 Pitcher is Gosselin
He's in the early phase of his career, but this past season Craig Gosselin performed like a veteran on the hill for the Raleigh Kings and walked away with the North Southern Pitching Star in the process.

The 24-year-old Kings star fashioned a 16-4 won-loss record in 1958 with a 2.98 ERA. In 166 innings of work and 22 starts, Gosselin struck out 145 while giving up 151 hits and 39 walks. He held opposing batters to a .239 average.
Wednesday, July 30th, 1958: Stanek Fires Shutout in Chesapeake Victory
Chesapeake pitcher George Stanek put on a show today and walked away with a 7-0 shutout victory over the Raleigh Kings, throttling them on 5 hits. He just cruised through their lineup, fanning 7 and walking 2 in a strong outing.

"He was very efficient and he hit his spots," his manager said. "He stayed down in the zone and stayed away from the middle of the plate."

This season Stanek has 15 wins and 6 losses and a 4.07 ERA.
Monday, July 28th, 1958: Hard to Handle Hitter Wins NL Honor
Raleigh Kings right fielder Javier Aliciea had a great time at the plate last week, running up some sensational numbers that no one else could match. Few people were surprised today when the North named him Player of the Week.

Aliciea banged out 11 hits in 15 at-bats on the way to a .733 batting average. He also racked up 2 home runs, 5 RBIs and 6 runs scored.

Currently Aliciea has 5 home runs and a .355 batting average.
