Providence Steamrollers starter Alfredo León has collected the Kopra Pitcher of the Month award for a run of lights-out performances.
"This town really appreciates it when you're going well," said León. "They might boo you when you're getting knocked around, but they love you when you're mowin' them down."
In June the 28-year-old compiled a 5-1 record in 6 starts with a 2.62 ERA. He threw 44.2 innings, fanning 33 while walking 19.
Looking at his season stats, León has won 13 and lost 4, collecting 89 strikeouts and 47 walks in 128 innings with a 3.66 ERA. |
 | Tuesday, July 1st, 1958: KL Best Hitter Award to Providence's Steve Poudrier
The vote is in and Steve Poudrier, the 26-year-old second baseman for Providence, is the winner. Today he was honored with the Kopra Batter of the Month award.
In June, Poudrier wowed voters with a .441 average while posting up 12 home runs, 28 RBIs, 31 runs scored and a .500 on-base percentage.
This season Poudrier is batting .388 with 28 home runs. |

All week long Steve Poudrier made the highlight reels and made headlines -- his name and face were everywhere. So it was no surprise to anyone when he was chosen the Kopra's Player of the Week for his standout performance.
Poudrier put up a solid set of stats, compiling a .517 average (15-29) and contributing 3 home runs and 11 RBIs to claim the honor.
This year Poudrier is hitting .390, produced 63 RBIs and 27 home runs, scored 62 times and gotten on base at a .448 rate. |
