"Play by the rules or suffer the consequences," was the comment by the league commissioner after he announced the latest drug suspension. This time it was first baseman Alexander Coleman of the DeMatha Catholic HS Stags. He was found in violation of the league anti-drug policy and has been given a 10-game suspension.

Tanglewood Gant went on a season-long hitting spree against Public School League pitchers and captured the Washington Post High School Hitter of the Year for 1958.
The Walker HS right fielder battered the opposition for 54 hits, 12 doubles, 3 triples, 10 home runs, 42 runs batted in and 43 runs scored. He hit .462 and posted a .575 on-base percentage.

Pedro Picazo of the Bishop McNamara Greens had a fine season this year and today he accepted the Washington Post High School Hitter of the Year for 1958.
The 16-year-old third baseman put up a .478 average and a .520 on-base percentage, piling up 86 hits, 20 doubles, 4 triples, 4 home runs, 41 RBIs and 61 runs scored.
