Sunday, August 17th, 1958: Off-Field Accident Injures Blake Puryear
Blake Puryear, Niagra Falls catcher, will be out of service for 16-17 months. According to club officials he had an unfortunate off-the-field accident and suffered blurred vision when he got into a fight with another parent at a Little League game.

Tuesday, July 29th, 1958: Michaël Hudon Named Premier WL Batsman
The West has given Michaël Hudon the Empire State Batter of the Year.

In 1958, the Niagra Falls right fielder was outstanding with a .439 batting average, 27 doubles, 4 triples, 9 home runs and 57 RBIs. Hudon also had 44 walks, scored 71 times and posted a .515 on-base percentage.
Tuesday, July 29th, 1958: Woolford Selected EL's Top Batter
The votes have been tallied and the winner of the East Empire State Batter of the Year has been named. It was awarded today to Stephan Woolford from Albany for his great year at the plate.

He put up some impressive numbers, including a .446 batting average and a .506 on-base percentage this year while racking up 44 doubles, 8 triples, 8 home runs, 84 RBIs and 123 runs scored.
