NYSB News: Pre-Season Begins
Tuesday, February 14th, 1967: 1967 preseason activities begin in earnest today as the New York State Baseball teams prepare for practice sessions, scraping off the rust and polishing their skills for the new season.
WL Gives out Empire State Batter of the Year, Hoeft Gets Prize
Friday, August 12th, 1966: Pretty much all season Alex Hoeft was "in the zone" and had his way with opposing pitchers. The Ice catcher managed to stay there long enough to earn the West Empire State Batter of the Year for 1966.

He assaulted WL pitchers for a .354 batting average, 101 hits, 9 home runs and 63 RBIs, while scoring 67 times.

Friday, August 12th, 1966: Santiago Andreu of the Albany Capitals had a fine season this year and today he accepted the Empire State Batter of the Year for 1966.

The 24-year-old first baseman put up a .320 average and a .447 on-base percentage, piling up 108 hits, 27 doubles, 5 triples, 23 home runs, 85 RBIs and 104 runs scored.
