Tuesday, January 31st, 1967: The Down Home Baseball League preseason begins today. With only a few weeks to go before the start of the regular season, there is much to do around Down Home Baseball League. Teams have to determine their major league rosters, keep their teams relatively healthy and play out a rigorous spring training schedule. The schedule has been released and front offices across the league are considering promotional days and other marketing tactics as well.

 | South Names Best Hitter
Tuesday, August 30th, 1966: The top votegetter in this year's South Southern Hitting Star balloting was Jesús Moreno, the outstanding Birmingham right fielder. He finished the season with a .321 average and a .401 on-base percentage. Jesús Moreno also registered 120 hits, 29 doubles, 2 triples, 17 home runs, 78 RBIs and 65 runs scored.

 | Cendteno Selected NL's Top Batter
Tuesday, August 30th, 1966: 1966 was an outstanding year for Virginia Beach first baseman Félix Cendteno and it was capped off today by the announcement that he is the winner of the North Southern Hitting Star.
This season Cendteno compiled a .301 batting average and a .359 on-base percentage. In 92 games he delivered 102 hits, including 24 doubles, 1 triple and 17 home runs. He finished the year with 60 RBIs and 55 runs scored.
