 | Gou Tops Best Hitter List
Tuesday, August 23rd, 1966: What a year for Chao Gou! He finished the year with a .300 average and today was named the winner of the 1966 Virginia Baseball League Virginia's Best Hitter.
His season totals included a .391 on-base percentage, 110 hits, 30 doubles, 3 triples, 14 home runs, 71 RBIs and 63 runs scored.

Monday, August 22nd, 1966: He's in the early phase of his career, but this past season Berta Benida-Merah performed like a veteran on the hill for the Virginia Beach Schooners and walked away with the Virginia Baseball League Virginia's Best Pitcher in the process.
The 21-year-old Schooners star fashioned a 22-3 won-loss record in 1966 with a 3.02 ERA. In 226.2 innings of work and 29 starts, Benida-Merah struck out 135 while giving up 204 hits and 51 walks. He held opposing batters to a .237 average.
